Chicken-dove-pigeon??? Found it and it is wearing a band on it's leg.

This bird has been on my porch for the last two days. Anyone know what it is? It seems tame and with all the storms we've been having in the area I'm not sure if it is lost or not. Not sure if I should call a shelter to come get it. It seem to be healthy and flys from time to time.

either pigeon or a dove possibly someones pet i would call someone about it and ask about the band

I sent a picture to our local newspaper hoping that they will publish it. I'm not sure who I should call about the band on its leg.

I had a pigeon visit me back in Sept. You should try making a pigeon trap and then you can use the # on its leg band to trace it back to its owner.

yup. There is no doubt a local pigeon fanciers society in the area or on line a national one that can trace the band they make nice pets but don't fly well so are vulnerable outside

Well I have been unsuccessful at finding this guys owner so today I used a blanket and caught him. Brought him to my local Humane Society and they reassured me that they know of other resources to help find its owner. Thanks for all the great help I received here on Backyard Chickens. Hope someone's missing him!
