Chicken dying for no reason

When I went out to my coop today I was confused to see that one of my golden comets hens wasdead right beside the wall. Her body were stiff but her neck or head was not. She seemed fine up to her death, any ideas on what happened

I'm sorry to hear that.

An unstiff neck is pretty normal for a dead chicken in my experience, but she could have run into the wall and broken it. She could have been egg-bound, eaten something toxic, or suffered some other similar problem.

I agree with Gita, she may have run into the wall etc. It's also common for chickens to die with no apparent reasons. Just something that is part of raising chickens.

She may have had a heart attack on the roost bar that night. Common time for birds to have heart attacks. And this might explain the neck position as well.

I am so sorry and I hope your heavy heart can heal soon.
