Chicken entertainment?

For those of you that give pumpkin as a treat, what do you do with it? Just put the whole thing in there or does it need to be cut up somehow? Outside and guts, or just guts? I have some nice big ones from Halloween still sitting on my front porch...

I just cut my pumpkins in half and let them go to town. They seem to love it! The halves also act as nice bowls for other treats you may want to put in there...

Thanks for this post!!!!
My girls are in the coop all day when i am at work and I know they want out because the remind me of prisoners as if they run their water dish up and down the bars staring at me in the morning!!! I love all the ideas of how to keep them entertained while they are shut in the run and coop. Mine don't eat pumpkins I throw in there. I think the hay bale is a great idea but I heard that it can attract lice and dampness? I have pine shavings over the top of paving sand....

I cut up a Jack-o-Lantern pumpkin we had after Halloween and put it in the run. A couple of days before that I put the guts out for my nineteen Gold Comets and you'd think they were a school of starving paranhas. They must have remembered the taste because when I put the pumpkin wedges in they set upon it like they'd not eaten in forever. The next day I was gathering eggs and I was wondering where the orange vinyl had come from that was on the ground. I mean it was about the thickness of a swatch of vinyl. It had been pecked completly clean of pumpkin.

neighbor issues? solution- get some guineas, or peacocks, the louder the better, wait for breeding season of your new birds, just when your neighbors are at their breaking point get rid of the guineas or peafowl and suddenly your chickens won't seem so loud.
