Chicken Eye Poked Out

My dad's dog was left out unsupervised, and she managed to grab one of my chickens. Along with her being hunched over (the chicken), it appears her eye was poked out. I know I'm probably going to get bashed for this, but please know it won't happen again and we are taking this seriously. She's in an awkward spot under our coop, so it was hard to grab her. She has white stuff coming out of where her eye should have been. When her eye opened, it was just pink, hence why I believe it's fully gone. I feel terrible, and any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hi! I'm so sorry that happened to your bird! Here is what I would do:

-clean the eye
-separate it from the other birds (they will hurt her if she appears weak)
-put antibiotics in her water
-put poultry eye cream in her eye
-make sure she can see where her food and water is

Then just repeat that until she gets better! Mabey also attempt to wrap her eye.

Hope she feels better soon!

Apply antibiotic ointment to the eye until it heals. One eyed chickens can do quite well. I would not separate her from the flock unless they pick on her. It will be very difficult to reintegrate a one eyed bird to the flock.
Should I clean her eye with anything? Does the antibiotic ointment have to be just for chickens or can it be what we use?

Just a clean plain warm wash cloth could clean her eye. The Terramycin eye ointment is a available at many feed stores (ask a clerk for it.) I would use plain Neosporin triple antibiotic ointment if you cannot get the other. Treat it twice a day minimum for at least a week. Keep her where she is familiar with food and water. Watch for bullying.
