Chicken Farts ?

That mess you see my hens eating came out of the crockpot. Let me tell you after eating that they were so pootiful.

So what do you think you are doing wrong with beans? I am a chef by trade and make beans ALL the time!! PM me or we can keep the chatter going on here. Beans are so easy, I can't understand what your problem could be not getting them cooked all the way. Do you overnight soak before? Are you using enough water? What about onions, peppers added? Are you adding wine or liquor when raw? I want to help!!

I'm trying to Cook them

Beans are the bane of my existence :

Quick Soak : I put just enough water to cover with about 2 inch top water. Bring to slow boil, for about 5 min cover and remove from heat. Let sit for 1 hour. OR overnight, Drain .

COOK : add new water back to cover beans, bring to boil reduce heat to slow boil

does not matter if I cook em a hour or all day @ slow cooker speed. Never gets past chewy. No Liquor No things added .

Ohmygod thats funny.Thank you everyone I seriously needed this article for a laugh. But I was curious too but to scared to ask. I know that when I am sitting in the house holding my birds I smell "something" . The dog lets you know when she toots she will look at her rear inquestion, the husband didn't claim it, it sure wasn't me so the only ones left were the birds. I asked my husband if birds can fart. Neither of us could come up with an answer.....so they must. Thanks again, I haven't laughed this hard in a while.

Last week we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant and came home with left-over refries and rice. The chickens dove into it like crazy. I did give a passing thought to gas developement, but then went on my way. I didn't put it together until this thread, but I did see one of my girls dashing about faster than normal, so I wonder if she was getting a little GATO (gas assisted take off versus jet assisted take off). Hmmmmmm. But other than that, no problems at all.

1turken, I see you are located in Washington State. What altitude are you at? That will make a huge difference in cooking beans. I once kept beans going on high in a crock pot in Denver for 3 days, just to see if they would EVER cook. Nope, if you want beans to cook at a higher altitude, you use a pressure cooker or you don't cook them at all.

Funny I should come across this thread today. I was in the coop this afternoon "scooping poop from the coop" . One of my little sex-links was hanging out in a nestbox when she let one go so loud and long I swear I saw the straw poof up! The expression on her face made me laugh so hard I dropped my bucket!
