Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to raising chickens so I have a bit of an odd question. I tried doing my research and couldn’t find anything so I thought I'd post it here. So this is it:
About 1 month ago, one of my larger girls got curious and squeezed her huge body into a tiny little bird house I have in my backyard. The house opening was large enough for her to get her head and about half of her torso in, but her tail end was sticking out. At first I found it humorous until I realized she was stuck. We attempted to pull her out, but she was really stuck, so we had to take the entire bird house apart to get her out. Well when she came out, her feathers were visibly squished/dented. They look wrinkled and maybe even broken? I thought they would go back to normal after awhile but it’s been over a month and her feathers still have the same appearance and now the once beautiful grey/lavender color is now turning somewhat of a brownish hue. They just don’t look to good (the feathers). However, she is in fine health I think and just as curious as ever (she has tried to get back into that bird house again, although we made it so she can’t get stuck in it anymore). I’m wondering, will her feathers get better or re-grow? I’d say it’s about 50% of all of her top feathers that got a good squishing. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help!
