Chicken feather loss

Got a hen that has barley any feathers on her stomach and the skin is very raw. She has also been on the nest for a very long time but when i pick her off the nest she just runs off but then she will get back on the nest and just sit. Dont think its a molt but not sure.

She sounds broody to me - she wants to hatch. I use a 'sin bin', which is a wire cage off the ground. It will cool her breast and break the broodiness. Some think it is cruel, but I am more concerned with the stories I have heard about hens getting thin and weak from not eating and drinking properly for weeks.
