My chickens are 18 weeks now. Yesterday I noticed they all have a large "pad" underneath their feet, not in between their toes. It doesn't look like bumblefoot, there doesn't seem to be any infection. Is this normal? Do they have pads like dogs and cats do? May sound like a silly question - I tried looking up information on the internet and checked all of my reference books but couldn't come up with anything. Thanks!

Yes, perfectly normal. I'd hate to think of walking around on bony chicken feet without pads...ouch!

Or jumping down off of roosts and landing hard. Pads are good!
