While Fluff was gone, Hyla tried to get some of her chicks to escape with her out of the coop.

While Fluff was gone, Hyla tried to get some of her chicks to escape with her out of the coop.

(FluffBomb knows almost nothing. She’s a broody Cochin with babies. She doesn’t really care about anything except that her babies are safe in a corral where she can keep them warm under her ample feathers).

“What are you doing, Hyla?” Aysel, who was normally very shy, coolly asked the young pullet. “I am sick of you tricking the little chicks into doing naughty things. FluffBomb, this chicken is trying to steal your chicks!”

FluffBomb says:

“My babies are in this corral with me! That tear in the chicken wire is dangerous! Puleeze keep outta here! [PECK!]”

“Keep an eye out for Hyla,” Aysel whispered to Fluff. “She is a nice bird, but she’s a troublemaker,”

“I’ll be my normal laid-back self once I get these twelve babies out of my feathers. I’m normally a lazy cuddle-Cochin, but am really busy right now with the most important thing a hen can do which is raise baby chickens for the future.”

“I can’t wait until my chicks hatch,” broody Silkie Janie interjects. “This is my first one hatching.”

Olive and Clementine, who had already recovered from their adventure, were very determined to see Fluffbomb's chicks. They hopped in on the other side, where Fluffbomb couldn't see them.

FluffBomb says that she has mostly Birchen (dark brown) chicks with the one buff and two black chicks. FluffBomb has no idea how many males and females hatched, but she thinks the two black chicks are female as well as the buff.
