Chickens CAN fly.

This is one fact I was not aware of when I got my first chicks. They can fly pretty high, and sometimes they really like to fly up on your head or shoulder when your back is turned. They mean well.

Hens make a lot of noise.

Also did not know this. I seriously thought something horrible was happening out in the coop the first time I heard my Lucia sing her "egg song". Now I know to go check the nest box after I hear her sqawking all her chicken nonsense.

I read that a town in Belgium gave 6000 chickens to their residents. The residents fed the chickens all their food waste. The town reduced its trash in the landfill 100 tons the first month. They are quite the trash compactors and you get something delicious in return.
