I just set up a coop with a few chickens for a friend as part of an educational project. I'd like to put up a 1 page "chicken fun fact" at the coop for them, and I'm wondering if anyone has ideas for what to include. We'd like it short and sweet, bullet points if possible.

There are 3 hens - I have info about the breeds on one side, but I'm blanking on what would be fun for people who have never met a chicken before. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Things I've got so far are:

Chickens are omnivores - they will eat anything!
Our 3 hens will lay an average of 2 eggs a day
Hens are female. Roosters are male. You won't hear our ladies crow!
Chickens molt their feathers twice a year, in spring and fall

You don't need a rooster to have eggs.

Always surprised at how many people don't know this or think you are eating baby chickens

Chickens know more about raising chicks than we ever will.

Roosters provide a valuable service to the flock

Money spent on your coup is not wasted.

Chickens "sing", it's called the egg song.
And eggs come in different colours and sizes.

And they still look very much like them! A chicken running is probably very much what T-rex would have looked like (now I wouldn't be going and quoting that, but still)

Maybe that chickens have a gizzard, also called a ventriculus, that they fill with grit (small pebles) to help grind food.

Makes T Rex less scary to imagine them doing the run-flap combo my chickens do.

I wonder if they had furry butts?
