I wanna make a garden just for my chickens once we get warmer weather. But don't know how I should go about it so they won't eat it up and tear it up. I was going to plant a variety of veggies for them an some herbs. But how should I have it all set up?

For me it's been pretty easy. Chicken wire around raised beds (4' tall total). My girls don't free range all the time, so that is a factor as well. They are only out of their run for a limited time each day.

I do let them into the raised beds when the season is over to rototill the garden.

Chickens will destroy all plants. You will have to grow the garden, tend the garden, and than harvest and feed your chickens from the garden. You cannot turn chickens lose in a garden unless you are wanting nothing but dirt unfortunately.

Yeah mine free range all day if they'd like the door is always open to there pen. But I was planning on making some garden boxes. And I have big roll of wire to cover them.

Mine love nasturtiums and nasties are easy to grow and hardy under most conditions. Plus they have sweet flowers that are edible for humans too. And, when you water them the water bounces off the leaves and then settles into little perfectly round puddles that catch the sun and look like little jewels.

Lots to love about nasties! They are sweet, old-fashioned flowers.

I love this idea. We are going to make some of these mini-beds for our flock. Is there a type of wheat that is good for this as well?
