So sorry to hear what happend

Gape worm is some type of worm that hooks to the inside of the throat causing yawning symptoms and making it harder for the bird to breathe.

:0 thank you, it wasn't easy. But better for her.

I did a search here on gape worm and found several useful threads. I will be looking down her throat here in a few. We have ivermectin and if I have to I can treat them. I may have a lookie see in the roo's throat also

Just as a FYI - dose for gape worm using ivermectin is:

5 to 7 drops for large breed birds
3 to 5 drops for banties
do NOT eat eggs for 5 to 7 eggs layed after treatment.

thanks again for the possibility of gape worm....nasty little worm also!!

Morning! Ok, I don't think it is gape worm, she is doing fine with the breathing and I can't see anything out of ordinary in the throat. The newest one is still in the house...

My DH thinks they are faking it so they can come in and get pampered for a bit

She was running fever yesterday...if a chicken can run fever...her head, beak, and comb was hot...but she is eating and drinking the electrolyte water. Her poo has hardened a tad...still looks normal color, just globs of white and liquid. Still feels weird dissecting poop

When I scrape the poo off the sleeping spots everyday, I dissect everybodys

One eye is swollen and crusted shut. I wiped it clean with a warm rag and it can open, it is just so swollen...and that side of her nose is running.

She is alert but not enthusiastic.

She is so funny, she cried and "baked" when I left for a few last night.

I hope it is just a cold...and that she gets better before anybody else needs the inside pen...some more of those are on the Christmas list!

Thanks for any thoughts or recomendations and/or info anybody has!!!!!!!

Great day to all
