Denagard liquid H-2-12 dosing 1.5 teaspoon per gallon of water for 3 days for preventative . 3 teaspoons per gallon of water for 3-5 days for treatment. what i dont know is if the water should be changed daily but i dont change it unless it is dirty.

Powdered form is 4.4 oz per 50# feed (can sit out for 8 days) for illness, 2.2 prophylactic - but better to round up to 3oz. 35# bag runs like $220 delivered think valley vet or Jeffers, one of the two. Can seal up v. good and last forever. Really the way to go for larger flocks and that monthly treatment tho.

Here's the thing, there is some indication that a 12 month Denagard treatment program MAY keep the birds from becoming carriers. Yes, you can choose not to treat, let those that die die. let those that survive become carriers, have 30% less productive layers and eventually future generations will have improved resistance. Or, you can treat your entire flock for 3-5 days initially, cull those that don't respond well by the 3rd day and treat them once a month for a year and maybe come through on the other end with a flock that is not sick, won't spread to others and produce more resistant offspring. You can also treat your flock, warm/cold Tylan/Denagard dip your hatching eggs and produce clear chicks for a replacement flock. What you can't ethically do is not tell others you've had exposure in your flock. I understand not wanting to use antibiotics if it can be avoided - the Denagard has been widely used and become accepted practice in Europe where Avian approval has been sought and granted. Here in the states simply not enough $ for manufacturers to jump through the hoops. Your flock. Continue researching and come to your own conclusions on how to best manage it. Good luck!

What does warm/cold Tylan/Denagard dipping of eggs consist of? I'm thinking maybe I need to get a swab on the rooster. Today he's the only one that sounds croupy, and not nearly as bad as yesterday morning. It's making me wonder if he doesn't have something irritating his nasal cavity. Everyone else is fine, I saw eye whites and thought it was wateriness. I'm panicking early to beat the rush, it seems.

Wouldn't the only way to actually know if I've had exposure is to send in swabs? Gosh, this is full on for 6 birds that are 8 months old!

So how much LA 200 would one give a 250 gram bird and how much would a 20kg tom turkey get? Same for Denagard. Pretty sure I can find the LA200 info, but neither of my fomularies have the Denagard info.

MG/MS Denagard dosage and freq treatment:

Dosage 2cc to quart water three to five days month no metal waters it binds. No vinegar when using it affects pH.

Chicks same dose at day 1 to 3 days
Adults monthly
Chicks at 3 week intervals




Denegard 12.5% Liquid dose:
For CRD treatment: 250 mg per litre drinking water [1/10 tsp (.55 cc) per average chicken] doses all ages at 25 mg/kg. Treat chicken for 3-5 days, or turkey for 5 days. Birds should show improvement in 1-2 days. Possibly continue treatment once/ month for a year.
That’s 4 cc per gallon preventative and 8cc per gallon treatment.

One of the more powerful meds for Mycoplasmas.
*Eggs are safe to eat.
Meat withdrawal: 2-5 days.
*Synergizes with Tetracylines, increasing effectives of meds, & also helping prevent E. Coli (which is possible problem after broad antibiotics).
*Don't combine with high doses of the anticoccidials monensin, narasin, or salinomycin.
*Not approved for poultry in US.
*Tastes bad. If giving in drinking water, add sweetener (preferably Xylitol or 100% juice; sugar is another option). If in food, mix in tasty mash. Check to make sure each bird still eats & drinks enough. Can divide dose into food & water to help ensure consumption.*Daily dose must be given gradually over time--NOT all at once nor in a single meal. Do NOT give undiluted or bird's system may react with extreme gagging or other symptoms.

bio-mycin same thing as LA-200 but has anti-sting for injections in it. 1CC orally day 1 and day 4. Oxytetracycline that stays in the system for 72 hours – tetracycline.

Now I did call the manf here in the states but they had been recently, VERY recently, been bought out by another company so their "HELP" line isn't manned right now with people product familiar. In Europe you can get the powdered form in 1kg, 5kg as well as the 25kg packages, here in the US where not "approved" for poultry only distributed in the 35# bag for larger animals it is approved for. What some people are doing that don't need such a HUGE bag themselves is doing a co-op purchase and repackaging. The liquid is available for those with only a few birds @ liter for about $45. In any case, Tiamutin (the active ingrediant in Denagard) IS approved in Europe for poultry and widely in use so there are numerous links, data, testing, studies, etc - but you have to look across the pond for resources on them. The links provided are those I found most useful in researching - there are MANY more! But those will get you well started in coming to your own treatment viability conclusions.

Do note that Turkeys are particularly susceptible to MS. Treatments for turkey are always recommended for 5 full days where with chickens 3-5 is good. My own research was primarily focused on chickens - Google: Tiamutin treatment Turkey dosage.

Useful stuff whether trying to manage an exposed flock or treat new quarantined stock.

Useful if you want to hatch chicks clear of MG/MS/CRD and highly recommend dipping ANY eggs purchased from outside sources as a small percentage of eggs can carry them.

I believe it's 1 tsp and 2 tsp 3-5 days but nothing wrong with going the higher end for preventative use. Can treat both water and mash - but sweetened as bitter. Can't dose straight all at once they need to be ingesting sufficient levels. The powder can be mixed with dry feed and is good standing for up to 8 days at 2.2/4,4oz @50# bag. The water does need to be swapped out every 24 hours tho. Don't use metal as the drug binds to it. Don't use ACV with (that would include fermented feed) as it mess with the PH . *Don't combine with high doses of the anticoccidials monensin, narasin, or salinomycin.
