I bought recently a pair of Pekin Bantams and the day after I found the rooster about 2 metres away from a sitting goose, not moving and its head was completely red with blood and both eyes were closed. I isolated him from the flock and tried to clean his wounds and he looked a bit better when i gave him water but soon after one eye completly puffed up and the other is partialy opened, I again tried to clean it but it simply got worse yesterday. Since the attack which was last sunday morning I am obliged to force him to drink and since around 4 days he is on antibiotics and vitamins but shows no sign of healing, he is still drinking when i force him to and moves a bit. i do not know what to do now  and some help will really be appreciated, thank you . the little guy is really in a bad shape

I am sooooooo sorry for what happened to your rooster! When did the antibiotics get prescribed?:hugs

Awwww... your poor guy. So sorry. So this started a week ago? Are you able to get him to a vet? I think for him to have a chance, you need to get some nutrients in him. He might enjoy a scrambled egg treat. Can you make that for him? Also, is he isolated and inside? Is there any sign of injury anywhere besides his head? I have heard some amazing recovery stories on here, so I am hopeful for him.

How do I get him eating because he is not seeing anything, I tried a lot of times to make him eat but that failed.

Hi @lucas couty Welcome To BYC

I'm very sorry to hear about your rooster.
Do you have any photos?

Do you think that he has lost his eyesight or are the eyes just swollen?
Without seeing them, he may have some infection in the eyes - you mentioned when you tried to clean them they got worse. If you have vet care that is always best. For cleaning of eyes you can use saline or sterile water (you can use boiled water, let is cool completely) - flush the eyes and try to see if there is any pus, dirt/debris in them - remove anything that you see.
You don't mention where you are located, that's helpful when making suggestions. To help with eye infections - after flushing and cleaning out the eyes, you can apply an ophthalmic ointment like Terramycin, Ciprofloxcin eye drops or Vetericyn eye gel.

If he has not eaten for a long time, that is concerning - getting him hydrated is important - is he drinking? You can try making his food into a wet mash, then hand feed him - put a little on his beak to see if he will take it in. Boiled egg is good too. If you can't get him to eat, then you may need to tube or syringe feed him - good instructions are found here

Keep us posted.

I was able to entice a sick hen who was refusing to eat with live mealworms. Is that an option? I also got baby bird food from the pet store, made it into a paste with water, and swiped it into his beak so she could swallow it on his own without aspirating. Maybe you could do the same with his feed, as @Wyorp Rock suggested, if you can’t get baby bird food?
