Chicken got stung by scorpion

For your benadryl dose, did you give 1 and 1/4 ml, or 1 and 1/4 of a fraction of a ml? I'm not clear on your question and dosing. Do you have a picture of the syringe or dropper you used?

The 2.5 mark on the syringe is equal to 1/2 tsp 0.5 tsp. I gave her 1/2 of that.

I don't see that my reply posted. Sorry if you get this twice. On my syringe 2.5 ml is equal to 0.5tsp. I gave her 1/2 that amount. That would be 1/4 of a tsp.

I don't really know what the effects of too much benadryl in a chicken would look like, similar to a human or not. At this point I think all you can do is watch and wait. I would not give any more benadryl for sure. I would hold off on giving her water until you see how she's doing, you don't want her to aspirate into her lungs. If she starts looking better just try dipping her beak to see if she will swallow any.

Oh no! So I should have given her less than 1/8 a teaspoon 1/8 tsp equals .75. I just measured the amount I gave her with a tsp and it actually looks like I gave her 1/8 tsp. My poor chicken! This is hard to watch. She's foaming yellow fluid now! uggg!

If you only gave 1/8 tsp then that is only a little more than the .5ml, so less worrisome. I found another thread where 1ml was recommended, so maybe you are OK with the dose.
I know that some scorpions are worse than others as far as venom goes.

How's the chicken? My first question is describe the scorpion. Most species are really not dangerous. Like a wasp sting. The overdose of Benadryl should have no lasting effects. She's probably going to have a great nap though. Relax, if she was going to have a reaction it would have happened already. Back to the scorpion. If you know what type I can use a name, if not a detailed description. Size, color, hairs, tail and claw size(in relation to body) how/where it was found? (In open, under rock, dead tree etc)

Probably a young bark scorpion. The other chickens ate it pretty fast after she dropped it so I'm not sure. We live in Phoenix Arizona and we mostly have bark scorpions, I think. It was a light golden color and about an inch long. I know the younger ones tend to be worse because they don't know how to regulate their venom yet and typically give a bigger dose than necessary! It was found under a pot. And I thought chickens were immune to scorpions! Wrong!
