Help! My chicken just got stung by a scorpion. She got stung on the mouth and started immediately scratching her face. Now she's panting and her legs are stiff and to the side of her. I have read that Benedryl helps but I don't know the dosage. Does anyone know about Benedryl dosage? She's about 11 months old.

Hmm, I'm not sure! Birds are an entirely different creature than mammals, which makes me wonder if benadryl would be effective on them. You could try some liquid children's benadryl, use a very small dose like 1/4 to 1/2 ml and see if that helps.

Found an old thread that says 1/2 ml childrens benadryl only. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/can-you-give-a-chicken-benadryl.579161/
If you've got turmeric in your spice cabinet you can try making a paste (mix with sesame oil if you have it) and applying it to the site of the sting, leave it on as long as you can. A paste of fresh crushed basil leaves and salt can also be used, or a paste of fresh crushed garlic. I'm just naming some things that may be easily at hand. Frankincense essential oil is supposed to be good for scorpion stings, less likely you have that sitting around.

I might have some Frankincense oil. I wonder if it helps with the poison or just the pain?

For your benadryl dose, did you give 1 and 1/4 ml, or 1 and 1/4 of a fraction of a ml? I'm not clear on your question and dosing. Do you have a picture of the syringe or dropper you used?

Thank you so much for all the help. She's laying on her side and still panting but maybe not as much. Should I encourage water with a dropper or just let her rest for now?
