I'm getting some 6 week old female orpingtons at the end of April..guess it will be awhile for egg! Lol
Oh well, it will give us lots of time to get to know each other! You're looking at early fall for eggs, maybe late summer if you're lucky. Orps aren't the fastest to mature so laying onset is usually a bit slower compared to something like production hybrids.
Thank you.

That's what I'm hoping for..Nice sweet chickens, no spazzies! With Buff Orpingtons - expect eggs in mid to late August-September. They are really a very sweet breed. Heads in clouds sometimes, but kind.
chick is chicken! they lay egg if they girl when they ready. every chicken differ so they give egg when they decideWhen is a chick considered a chicken and at what age do they start laying?
Chicks are chickens. Once I know sexes, I call them pullets and cockerels and then either at 6 months or a year (I can't remember which) pullets turn to hens and cockerels turn into cocks. When is a chick considered a chicken and at what age do they start laying?
