Chicken has been attacked by fox and had a deep and nasty puncher hole

He only just started to eat. By very protcted of the female
I do wonder if he also suffered some injuries. I get that he's very protective of the hen, that's good and the way it should be, but your mention that he is depressed, coupled with the photo makes me think he's under the weather.
Check his crop first thing in the morning, it should be empty. Is he pooping o.k.?

Will check his crop in the morning. I have checked him all over and all I found was a bruise on his neck. Eating and drinking fine. Poo ok.

Well, I'm glad he is eating/drinking good.
A bruise on the neck - he's probably sore it can take several days to recover.
I hope he continues to get better along with the hen.

Update.its been about 3 weeks since my Chicken got attacked her puncher wound has healed remarkably no infections since it happened. My rooster is up and about back to nearly 100% very pleased with my self treat her 24/7 we've have some up and downs with no eating lethargic at times. But she's doing great now thank you all for all your help I couldn't of done it with at you guys. You are all incredible.
