My chicken coop🐓
For the last 3 days I have been trying to cure impacted crop. She is four years old. I have been giving her coconut oil and trying to massage her crop. I'm not going to be going any surgeries. I will continue doing this as she doesn't seem to be in pain. She still eats and drinks but the mass is huge. I will continue this treatment and hopefully it will work. Any other suggestions? I did not isolate her wich could have been a problem since she just keeps eating the food.

Impacted crop requires real work to break up the contents. I mean work on your part.

Increase the oil to a teaspoon of coconut oil per hour. After each dose of coconut oil, massage with your fingers, focusing on the hardest lumps. Like kneeding bread dough. Work on this massage for at least ten minutes at a time.

If you are not feeling the contents budge, it's then time for a stool softener. You want sodium ducosate, doesn't matter the brand. This is not the same a a laxative. Give the whole gel cap directly into the beak and let it work for an hour. Meanwhile, give the chicken access to water and grit, and let the chicken consume as much as she wants.

Then do the massage again. Add more oil if the contents still seem unwilling to budge. More massage. At some point, if you are still feeling a mass of stuff in the crop that isn't dissolving, surgery is the only other option as starvation will eventually kill the hen.
