Chicken has infected wounds and abscess from fox attack- need advice!!!

Would iodine or hydrogen peroxide be good? I just got those from the store..
do you think it needs antibiotics or cleaning out the wound well would clear up the infection?
Don't ever use hydrogen peroxide! It is very harsh and stings badly. Iodine is fine. Rise them well and give them a good cleaning. Then apply Neosporin or any antibacterial cream.

Just rinsed them out as best as I could with the Microcyn as it said it’s a wound cleanser. Ok thanks! I’m sure I can find the ingredients for the homemade saline solution on here somewhere right? QUOTE="Weeg, post: 23658949, member: 581628"]
Don't worry about the Vetrycin, it isn't as good for large wounds anyway. Did you rinse the wounds out at all? You need to rinse them with a homemade saline solution, or a wound cleanser.

Here is a DIY saline solution https://www.healthline.com/health/make-your-own-saline-solution#how-to-make-it

It is, but at this point it’s too late to go today so I wouldn’t be able to bring her till tomorrow night after work. The vet is also not an avian vet and rarely treats chickens, it’s just an emergency vet, so I was trying to decide if it would be worth it or try to treat it at home with some antibiotics if I can find some. The avian vet is back in on Thursday though.
Is the vet a option? At this point I would go there, once I can see mucle then it is ether the axe (if they are not my fav) or the vet.

The puncture wounds may open and drain on their own if there is an abscess. If that happens thepat would be the one time you could actually use hydrogen peroxide to flush out the wound, but only once. Chlorhexidene 2% or weak Betadine (povidone iodine or Equate First Aid Solution,) would be good for deep wounds to help clear up infection.
