Hi im new here and trying to learn how to post first of all , Anyways iam hoping to maybe get some questions answered on my showgirl chicken shes 7 months , she started about 4 days ago turning her neck like shes adjusting herself every now and then , She eats but sits more then usual , We live in maine its cold so i been putting her under a heatlamp at nite to try to keep her warm since i feel shes not up to par , she is breathing fine and no nasa stuff or anything just does that neck thing often . any ideas ?

Welcome cheysmom. You might want to post this under chicken illness, disease and emergency topic. I don't know what could be wrong with your hen. But maybe someone with more knowledge may be able to chime in.

First, Welcome to the Forum! It is impossible for me to diagnose like this accurately, but it sound like your hen may have Sleepwalker's Disease (Coccidiosis gallus) or Marek's Disease. Is she acting drunkardly or dizzy? (If so it's probably Marek's). Or is she just sitting there all the time, like she's sleeping? (Sleepwalker's)

just a thought, what does her crop feel like in the morning before she eats? Is it full and squishy, or hard? I just had a girl with sour crop and she would move her neck trying to adjust what is in her crop. If so, search for it on the forum, lots of information regarding.

Thanks for welcomming me , she seems to be doing it less today , I still if im not in barn leave her underheatlamp . shes been out in barn floor today puttering around eating havent seen her do it much today , what she does is kinda turn her neck around and adjust like shes trying to clear something kinda , thankfully doing it less today , a freind told me to feed her bread soaked in olive oil wich she loved to try and help clear her crop . im hopeing its the crop thing as one person said maybe upset crop . thanks for answering me im very new here and not really knowing how to psot and such ,
