I have a chicken that every time I see it it is standing, walking around, or laying in the roosting boxes. I don't know if something is wrong or what and I'm worried that it might not b eating. Of course it might be doing stuff while I'm away from the coop at school and other aftivities... Who knows but I was just wondering about your insights on what's wrong and what to do

Yes I hope the moving is a good sign, I see them about three times a day, and I can always try to shoo it onto the ground with the food

It will be easier to catch now. probably in on the roost sleeping. Feel her crop, should be food in there and it should be somewhat soft, not hard or impacted. You can also feel her abdomen and make sure she's not egg bound. When some of mine first started to lay they spent alot of time in the nest boxes. They knew something was supposed to happen but not sure what or when.

I am new to this whole chicken thing and am not all that comfortable with touching and grabbing the chickens like that. I wish I was cause I don't want to deal with any more chicken deaths than I already have. And I if I do decide to feel its crop, where is I located and how do I tell if it is egg bound and do you have any tips for a "nervous first time chicken handler?"
