Chicken in Shock

Hey Kathy
I had thought of that. Your not being insensitive or out of bounds by any means. It's a sound idea.
I acquired 18 Jersey Giant eggs 20 days ago through the post. LOOK WHAT I GOT

There's another 3 making the bid for freedom as I type.
I didn't include the postage day in my incubation time.
I'll keep you posted.....
Thanks' - GOOD CALL.

Was she a Jersey Giant, too?

I, too, have always been very fond of the JGs. I have fond memories of my daughter as a 2-year-old carrying my long-gone JGs around. It was so funny seeing a little tiny child carrying an armload of JG around with its feet sticking out in front. Those birds were so huge and glorious, yet so patient with their small caretaker. I have been playing with the idea of getting a few more this year. I need more chickens like I need another nose, though. I really do love them as a breed, though...

Please, talk me out of this....

I can't talk you out of it as I have been think about getting some, lol. Sure would love to have about 6 hens and1 roo.

Hey CMV
No she was a Light Sussex, but for some reason she was small and jet black. I also got a red LS, "no idea" before you ask.
Another nose ? Which is the cheapest ?
I have 9 or 10 day olds so far. Waiting on another 9. I can't be sure because of all the fluff stuck to the incubator.
I read on BYC that it could take up to 25 days for them all to hatch. The 9 I have won't last 5 days in the bator, but if I take them out I'll loose the humidity !
Any suggestions ?
If JGs are as cool to keep as you say, get them. They can be mature loving birds by the time you save for your nose . What do you recon !

No can do! I may have just inherited a whole new flock from a neighbor. I am thrilled, but none of them are JGs, unfortunately. Mostly new blood, although a few of the birds are descendants from my current flock. Looks like I am going to have to wait for some flock attrition before I get those JGs. There's always next year...

Do you have no more room for some JG ? What do you have ?
