Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. The dog carrier seems to be good at night so far. I am at home days with my son and we keep a close eye in the yard. My son will make sure nothing happens to his chicken "Gertie."
No one has Identified the breed yet. She seems to be young also. I haven't seen any eggs or anything in the last week she has been here.
I have been having a lot of fun learning on this great site.
I grew up with chickens in Riverside; the only predators we had were opossums stealing eggs. Regardless, I would make a covered run to protect from hawks.
