Hello, I apologize, I just saw you asking for help in my profile page. How is your hen doing? What breed is she? I just had one pass away from a similar problem, she had a rock hard abdomen. She was suffering from egg peritonitis, long term. My very kind vets worked to help her but in the end she was inoperable. Her oviduct was full of hardened egg material and it had ruptured, further spilling egg material into her abdomen. Based on what you posted here, I'd be very suspicious of egg yolk peritonitis. Unfortunately there is not really any home care for this ailment; their only hope is some rather invasive veterinary care. Prognosis is usually guarded at best...
