Chicken is faking egg bound. LOL

If she's acting normal, she's probably not in pain. Keep an eye on her. If she begins to stand around in one spot with her tail held low, get her right into another warm bath. Keep her in it for at least fifteen minutes, thirty is better. Dry her and smear vaseline on her vent. Then place her in a quiet dark place with food and water. If she has an egg in the chute, it should be released pretty soon.

This morning again! She was in the nesting box all morning and acting like she has to lay and no egg. She came out singing the egg song. She doesn't have her tail down. But Idk what is going on.
Please help.

I gave her a warm soak for 30 mins. And I felt around and felt nothing. Does she think she's laying the golf ball in the nest? Lol

Try reaching up in "there" and see exactly how big this egg is........this will also lubricate the inside of her vent and help her pass that egg. If it is too big you may need to break the egg and take out the shell very small bit at a time.....Good luck to you!

Sorry, but breaking the egg might not be a good idea except as an absolute last resort. Several threads I've read that say that the pieces could cut her inside or small shards could cause infection. I think you should do the hot soak again and don't limit the time to a half hour. Keep the water comfortably warm and massage her undercarriage. When she's feeling relaxed, put your blowdryer on her to dry the feathers and then use some olive oil on her vent. Keep her warm and I bet she lays that egg. Keep us posted.

She went back in the nest box and an hour later.. NOTHING! She's saying fine and perky as usual eating, sun bathing, pecking at the ground. I gave her another hot soak. Blow dried her put her in a dark area with heat lamp. It'd been a while since she's been in there and nothing. I felt around and I can't feel anything.

With a healthy hen that has a mysteriously disappearing egg, I would start suspecting that she's actually hiding her eggs somewhere else. Take a good look around your property, I think she's pulling one over on you.

Hmm. maybe she isn;t comfortable in her surroundings to lay. Any where else you notice she is spending time? Or an area secluded from others?
