The big clue here is that she appears normal in every respect except for sitting on a nest and not producing, or not appearing to.

She may very well be laying elsewhere, or what I think is happening, she's faking it. Who knows why these girls do some of the things they do.

If she isn't sulking and holding down her tail, but is appearing otherwise normal, I would stop worrying about it. If she suddenly acts like she's in distress, then plop her back in the hot tub! If there's an egg, that should do it in nine times out of ten.

I have a 8 month old Barred Rock, and I have never seen or found one of her eggs. Early October I gave her a long hot soaking and did the olive oil expedition felt NOTHING. She is still just running all over the back yard with the other one.

And don't forget they're a lot smarter than we give them credit for sometimes. I know for a fact that a few of my girls have figured out how to totally manipulate me into doing stuff they want me to do.

I wouldn't put it past one to have figured out how to get a hot-soak spa treatment.
