Chicken just showed up?? ****NOW "Big Chickens Story" a story of a found chicken***lol

WHAT IS WITH ALL THE NEGATIVE REMARKS...THE DUDE TOLD HER TO KEEP THE CHICKEN...
This is bcs thread not yours so if you can't say something nice...go elsewhere.

She offered to buy the chicken...you'd know that if you read it completely ...shame on you rude people...next time take a look at yourself and see what crummy rude remarks you make..why are people so rude and disrespectful in today's age..
Tatertot is now my new designated Big Chicken Thread Guard dog!!! LOL.
Its the way things have become Tater. With all this online stuff people don't have to think before speaking and don't have to be respectful because they are in a sense anonymous. Put that with the fact that sometimes it is hard to read emotion and meaning behind type and you can make a mess of a conversation. Don't worry to much about the naysayers. I get pulled into stuff sometimes as well and my blood gets up. But in the end just remember. You can wipe em off your shoe just like any other nasty thing you might step in.

Ok. so I think some of the Big Chicken stuff got lost in the conversations today so I will recap.
Today she ran towards me when I threw scraps!! She is still worried but not like she used to be. I really think the nightly on the roost attention is helping her. Also, I went outside to check on the rabbits and of couse soon as I step outside I have a flock of chickens at my feet. BUT this time as they were running one of the hens that usually picks on BC bumped her. Instead of running off like usual BC started bumping chests with her!!! I was so proud of her!! Later I looked out the back door and BC saw me. She came running up the steps and stood by the back door. I talked to her and she just looked at me like..".Quit talking and throw me some food quick before the others see" lol So of course I did. I have 8 bantam cochin roos leaving tomorrow night so we will see Sat morning how it affects the flock pecking order. Maybe BC will move up some!?
And a question. My rooster still chases her off when he gets a chance. Is it maybe because he is still young and does not realize BC is a hen and not a larger rooster?

I'm glad to see she's made so much progress! I think the rooster may be chasing her because he is just young and although it's not springtime, my young rooster is still trying to mate some of my girls. Maybe he is just showing dominance too.

Im hopful that its an age "your bigger than me so I must keep you at bay" thing. He is only 12 weeks. After about a year he will be going up to my dads because I have an order of the REAL Heritage RIR's coming in feb. I don't want him to breed to them. But so far he is adorable lol. All big attitude in a lil body

Its a sight lol. They don't care if im throwing out soft stuff or hard stuff. An the poor chicken with a green bean on her back cant figure out why everyone is chasing her.

My youngest is named after my great aunt. Clarice. And her middle name is "Minnie love" because my great great grandmas name was Minnie love. (translated from Cherokee) Most of my kids have names that are passed down mixed with some Cherokee type in there. I also have a Kimberly Jayd rain. Paul Leo Hunter. (means little lion hunter) and so on. Paul is my adoptive dads name and leo is my grandpas name. Kimberly was a great friend of mine. and add the jayd rain and it means Princess of the precious high meadow rain. lol. I am lucky to still have my grandmom and grand dad. my bio dad and adoptive dad. And my children all eight of em lol are my pride and joy.

What a sweet face...no those are new...I always enjoyed pictures... IV got pictures of my twins everyday for the first 4 years...my granny had a house full..her fridge was covered with pictures...I sure do miss her

LOL the kids know if we don't name it its cus we eat it. And even then with the birds they will eventually get eaten. They respect them for it. But yes some have names. Because of the nature of farm life it tends to be generic. The rooster we call "Big rooster man" lol but he used to be called "poopy butt" cus he had some pasty butt going on when we got him. The rest are banded with colored bands. So say the chicken has a black band on the left leg. Its name is now "Elbee" (Left black or L-B) The other black band is named Arbee. (R-B) and so on. We took on two Buff Orpingtons and they are named Goldie and Lacy. And the Bantam Cochin hens are called Big momma...Little Momma....Sweet momma...and Momma
