Chicken just showed up?? ****NOW "Big Chickens Story" a story of a found chicken***lol

Those are wonderful pics...what are you talking about...beautiful birds...IV only three rirs...they are top of the pecking order...my buffs are the tame ones...they like to hop up on my legs and Peck everything on my coat..but then they snuggle in and close their eyes...its sweet..all my pics are in the barn...its a lot of work to get into the paddock right now...they will have a new coop and run made by spring...we have to many dogs and yotes to totally free range...although I miss seeing them peeking in the window from the flower box..lol

My favorite pics are the ones on your steps
...LOL ...it looks like they are in an egg conference...scrap pics are great...look at all the butt fluff..is the white one big chicken...she's a gorgeous bird...I love her face...my ee aren't that pretty in the face...still guess she's ameracauna...pretty blue eggs.
I'd love to buy some of her chicks next spring...if you've a mind to sell them.

I KNOW!! Its funny how Rooster man is on the top step looking like he is holding a meeting. lol. I couldn't resist the butt pics. Yes the white one is BC. I cant wait to see eggs and im thinking of letting her hatch out some eggs in the spring. But they would be crossed with Rooster man so would be interesting to see what we get. I could probably sell if I could figure out how to ship lol.

Oh it wouldn't matter if the chicks were mutts...they would be part of BC...part of her legacy...

Your story is similar to my dad's and mine. My mom thought he was crazy when he said there was a hen eating with my horse. I think someone kicked Freddi the Freeloader out, though. She wasn't a young bird when she showed up early last year and no one claimed her. She laid about 3 eggs in the whole time she was with us. She passed in her sleep last month on the 30th.

She was really underweight when we caught her (took a total of like 3 mins) and she had scaly leg mites. She never really fit into the flock until this year when we switch out the coops after we sold all of our AGF.

Glad to hear that Big Chicken got to stay with you! If I knew where that guy lived I'd call on him for animal abuse. But that's just me.

The least he could have done is fix the problem with the mud. I admit my set up isn't that great. Good enough that nothing can hurt them, but at least they get extras to supplement what they don't have. I think when I get back to Bama I'm going to set up a sort of grow box in the pen. Kinda like you see on here from time to time where they have a raised bed in the pen with fencing over it and grass growing inside.

Sorry, I know I'm rambling!

That's funny. Freddie the Freeloader. I think BC is still young because she was not in molt when she showed up. So im hopefull lol. She was a little thin and missing some tail feathers but otherwise seemed ok.
Guy is probably a business so I have looked into state laws on that. I know not everyone has a perfect set up. Mine is far from perfect. The two things that got me the most was that you could tell in the pics no chicken could take more than two steps without running into another chicken. And the fact that only one small door was open on each coop. He complained about hawks but there is no way all those chickens could get inside fast enough. Atleast if there were a few more chicken doors more chickens could get to safety. The hawk has an easy meal. I im sure he sells the eggs as "Free range" but he does not sell in this state. Makes me wonder if his license is in the state he ships to?
