Do easter eggers go broody?? Today BC was in her nest laying. I left her to it and then went to the PO, the store was gone over an hour. When I came back she was still on her nest...I was a little worried so I decided to check under her. OMG! I though she was gonna kick my ***! I have other hens that will peck at me if I try to reach under them but she was so bad!! I had to pull my jacket sleeve over my hand and I could still feel it. She was screaming at me the whole time. She did have an egg under her. Usually she lays n leaves. After I took it she stayed in the nest. I went back out a few min later and had to take her off. She made a bunch of noise and "yelled" at me then left the coop still yelling. Even Mr. Rooster came running to see if she was ok. Im thinking if she does it again I will take the egg but leave a fake and see if she sits on it.....what do you think? Most of the stuff I have read about Easter eggers say they don't sit.
Some hens will take on chicks. But its way to cold to give it a try.If she stays broody could you maybe see if she will mother some of those chicks you just got in? Not sure if that is a possibility or if it would work since I am new to raising chickens for the most part. Just an idea I had.
