While this is starting to get to be an old thread .... you could try something like this:

(or look around for a less pricey similar product.) It only opens up for the cat with the right tag.

If the chicken can't get food, it may start going somewhere else. Perhaps even toss some food somewhere else at the same time to encourage it to go there.

I also have a neighbor that has complained to me about my roosters going to their yard, but my opinion is they need to close their yard with a fence.

your animals are your responsibility, not your neighbor’s.

expecting him to accommodate your carelessness is absurd.
