It got into my RIR Breeder house and created a body count. The next night Hubs put a live trap at the point of entry. My guess it was going to be a coon. But it was one of the baldest/nastiest opossums I've seen.
No pics of the dispatch. Trap has been reset the last few nights in hopes there are more involved in the break in. First time one hasn't been deterred by our dogs in a long while. Dogs are slacking.

I don't blame your dogs for not wanting to touch that thing, it looks diseased, ew! Glad you caught it though. Sorry it got your RIRs :(

Sorry you lost some of your birds Connie :(

That is one nasty looking critter!
It tunneled in from the property next door. Was only a breeder house (population 6). But never the less. I have seen cuter opossums before- this one looked rabid. I have a Back up RIR Roo and plenty of RIR ladies to put in that house. Just waiting to see if the critter has a partner in crime or 2 or 3.
I have a gorgeous young back up male I was planning on swapping out the old guy with, just doing it sooner than planned now. With livestock- sometimes dead-stock occurs. Sucks rocks but.. predators happen.

not really a "like", more of a sympathetic acknowledgement. So sorry you lost birds, agreed this poor guy looks ill, glad that a side effect is that your plans get moved forward. There really is no easy way to keep critters is there.
