Chicken laid her first egg....then stopped.

Thank you for your encouraging words. Can someone tell me if they have ever had a chicken do this though? She laid a big beautiful egg. You'd think that means her body is ready to lay. But she has not laid one since and that was 9 days ago.

She laid a second egg on Wednesday - 13 days after her first!

Again, she laid it right in her nesting box during the late afternoon. She laid a third on Thursday afternoon!

Yes! I realize this is an old post, but my little chicken is a speckled sussex bantum, she is over a year, and just doesn't lay anymore they were tiny cute eggs, now she is just a sweet chicken friend who follows me around chatting the whole way.

Thanx for this post. We have a Ameraucana/ barred rock cross that laid a beautiful olive egg 8 days ago. It's the first olive egger we've produced. I was starting to go crazy because I have only gotten tan eggs since( she's in with several other types of hens) I penned them all up just to make sure she wasn't hiding hers and nothing but tan eggs have been laid. We have four hens total and are getting three tan eggs every day. I assumed she just hasn't laid again, but the suspense is killing me I'll wait at least 13 days before I worry.

I have an Easter Egger that laid just about every day for two weeks, then didn't lay anything for over 2 months. She stresses easily and is my most flighty bird. She seems perfectly fine, healthy and active. She just doesn't lay regularly. Her eggs come in starts and stops. It's just the way some are.
