Hi! One of my chickens, don't know which at this point, laid yolk this morning in the nesting box. I caught one of them eating it, so I cleaned it out, and on my way to the trash noticed a curled up, soft shell in the yard. Like she laid the yolk and passed the shell as she was running out to the rest of her pals. I've had them lay weird soft shelled eggs before, but they were always whole, not broken. Don't know if I should be concerned about infection at this point, or what? They are free rangers with access to ouster grit, get spinach treats, yogurt, and their chicken feed is complete nutrition (they eat it at night when they come in to roost), so I wouldnt guess they're not getting enough calcium. I will narrow it down to one after the other girls have laid today, but don't what to do at that point.
