Chicken Laws in Upland, CA?

Id support you. My partner and I want to have a few chickens in our back yard. Let me know how to help.

I would support a movement on this as well, I am going to talk to city hall and see if anything can be done. if anything I can help my father start up his chicken coop next door in Montclair since there does not appear to be any ordinance prohibiting chickens there, it would be nice to have my daughter get to experience having some fresh eggs like I use to have at grandma's house back when I was younger.

please forgive the first post, I just started looking into the whole chicken thing and stumbled on this site.

I would be happy to help too. We are deeply considering get a few chickens for our children to enjoy. Please let me know how I can help.

Longtime Upland resident as well. Some residents under impression that 3 birds are legally allowed. What are the true facts? Is there a definitive ban, or is it subjective? I could see why Roosters could be difficult for some neighbors, but hens are no louder than most other wild, backyard birds. There is support out here. I would certainly be interested in getting attention for this healthy, fun concern of ours. Presently, my only caveat would be secrecy, as our little gems are fairly new and we have zero intention of giving them up. Backyard gardening and hen keeping for eggs is the only logical result for those of us tiring of pesticides and GMO's introduced into our systems. Cluck! Cluck!! all.

We'd love to have 2 hens and fresh eggs in our Upland yard.

Please let us know how we can get involved and help.

Many thanks for leading the way!

My husband and I would love to take part in changing the chicken ordinances as well. Please let us know how we can help. :)

I am going to support this. I was just looking up how other cities have done this. It's a lot of homework and having all the information ready to present to the city. I think we have a shot, but need to get people together to support our cause. I know San Antonio Heights is allowed chickens(among other animals). I think we would have a strong case in Upland because of egg prices being so high now and the green movement.
We need a proposal and to put it before the council. Best chances to get it passed would be:
I think we should be
1. allowed 5 chickens
2. No rooster
3. Must have a way to protect from predators
etc.
Then we need all the answers for the cons they may have--documented and ready to go for their info.

Just a suggestion.
