chicken laying huge eggs all of a sudden

The last 2 days we have been finding a very big brown egg in the coop. 1 of them caused me to look for the body of who ever layed it. why all of a sudden? i have been adding ground sea shells and crushed egg shells lately. i also have been adding a magnesium/calcium supplament in their water 1 or 2 times a week. a couple of them have been laying eggs with thin shells

Maybe somebody has an answer. I've had two hens do this before. One laid an egg so big that I took it to work and had people swear there was no way it came from a chicken. Unfortunately, both hens died not to long after.
