I have 8 hens. 7 of them lay in the nesting boxes. I have 1 that refuses to and is laying in the corner of the coop under the roost (talk about not the cleanest place) How can I stop this one from doing that and is there a reason why? I have 8 hens and two nesting boxes. Both about the same size although they like the one more then the other. Both are soft and have pine shavings in them.

How long has she been laying? Has she ever laid in the boxes or anywhere else?

She has only recently started to lay there. She used to lay in the nesting boxes. At one point I was out checking them and she was Trying to lay in the same nesting boxes as another one of my hens. The other hen being the highest in the pecking order.

Sounds like maybe the other chickens chased her away from the nests enough that she decided elsewhere was fine. Not sure how inconvenient the spot she picked is, but you can either try blocking off the area with stuff, if it's not convenient, or give in and put a nest box where she prefers, so at least the egg will stay reasonably clean.
