Chicken laying white egg? She us a plymouth.

California Greys look very similar to barred rocks, but lay white eggs. Does she seem to be just a little smaller than the average Barred Rock?

She will still be a very good layer since California Greys were created by crossing Barred Rocks with Leghorns.

Was just going to suggest a photo to see if this is actually a bird of another feather

I have 2 Red Sex Links and both have laid brown eggs every day since they were 23 weeks. Suddenly, today, one of them has laid a pure white one and have no idea why and if it's still ok to eat.

It may just be the lighting, but this actually looks more like a very light cream color than a true white egg - either way, there is nothing about the color (or lack there of) that would make it unsafe to consume. If you are certain no one is pulling one over on you or that you have not got a new layer in the bunch that is of a breed to produce a different color (not sure that the birds listed above are your *only* birds) it may jus be a that she had a glitch in the "spray paint" system as brown eggs are actually white eggs that are given a coating of brown pigment at the end of their formation.

I only have the two Red Sex Links, no other birds. Margo hadn't layed for 3 days previous to her white egg and I knew it was her as she lays pure brown and Marjorie's are always speckled, this one was pure white. I was starting to worry as I read that sometimes when they do this it could be a bronchial problem. She's fine though, eating well and energetic and vocal. Thanks for your help x
