Chicken Leg in my egg?!

Throw it away and let's just forget that ever happened!

I am making a mental note to not ever sell the abnormally large eggs to the public......imagine a buyer opening that up

We as chicken owners can tolerate stuff like this, but other people don't. I have a doctor friend who will only buy eggs from the store.....he says they are "cleaner"

I forget where but somewhere there is a thread/ link/ page about all the weird stuff that can be found in eggs.

In my opinion, in this particular case the hens oviduct factory wasn't working correctly and sometimes bits of egg get "jammed up" on the assembly line, and are then coated with more and more layers.

You are lucky she passed it. Sometimes that happens and they can become internal layers. I would keep a good eye on her to make sure she is laying regularly.

Thanks for that link Imp, although you're right there isn't much more info. I wish I knew more about it, at least now I have a name. As far as identifying which bird, well that's not going to happen. They've all been crazy on the laying cycle because of so much molting going on. I've also had a lot of soft shell eggs lately (every other day or so), and haven't seen a soft shell since. Maybe the same bird?
