I have a black chicken, maybe an australorp, and she has been limping. I found a lump on her knee. It is soft, perhaps fluid filled. Is there anyone who knows what this could be?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Does she have any other symptoms such as swollen foot pads or is she sleepy or depressed? Any respiratory symtoms, or is anyone else sick? It's possible that her leg was injured, or she may have a disease such as mycoplasma synoviae or viral arthritis (tenosynovitis.) You might want to put her in a cage in the coop with food and water to rest it, and give poultry vitamins in her water. Here are 2 good links to read about diseases:

No other symptoms. She's eating fine. Just the leg lump. Thx for the reply. I'll be reading up on the links.

Hopefully it is just a sprain or maybe a break which can heal after a couple of weeks rest. A low dose aspirin or 1/4 adult aspirin twice a day can treat inflammation and pain if needed.
