Chicken looks sick, pale comb, tail feathers down... please help!

I would worm them if they were all together....I don't know if this 100% whats wrong but both times I have encountered a pale comb, not too responsive, and not a big eating habbit. Then I wormed them and they came around 100%. Type in worming or something like that, there is lots of info on here about it.
Good luck.

Hope others jump in if it is something else....

I am always afraid to worm when they don't feel well. It is hard on their system. So what do you do? If they are doing poorly because of worms do you worm them, or is the treatment worse than the worms?

I had this problem and read many of the posts and learned a lot. My four chickens were my first time with them. I felt her crop and it was lumpy. Most of what I read said there wasn't much I could do. I started her on Flagyl 300 mg a day. I first tried putting it on her food but she wasn't eating much so wasn't sure she was getting it. However, she improved slightly. I then added 100 mg to 1 teaspoon of olive oil and gave it to her 3 times a day. I also gently rubbed her crop. Within 3 days she perked up and started to eat. The crop felt smooth and she started eating like crazy. I dosed her for a week and now she is growing and her comb is bright red. I am glad I didn't give up on her. Some posts said how Flagyl can't be used in chicken food for commercial sales but that is to keep antibiotics out of the food chain. I am not eating them and it will be long out of her system before I eat any of her eggs. Flagyl is used in humans and dogs for digestive issues so I am sure it killed any bacteria that formed in her crop.
