Chicken lost feathers in 2 days.

I have 1 chicken and 1 guinea hen left in my flock. I went away for the weekend and when I got back she lost a good portion of her feathers. She has never molted like this before. What else could cause it

Could you please take a few more photos of closeup of that bare skin?

Feather loss can be caused by a lot of things. The bare skin can give us clues.

Have you lost other chickens lately to sudden death?

Sorry for the delay in responding. She is acting normal, no different behaviors. I’m thinking she is molting.

That is not the pattern of molt. It's the pattern of broodiness. The feathers dissapear along the keel bone in prep for incubating eggs so there is direct skin contact with them to keep them warm and moist.

My guess is you are probably down south of the equator where you are starting spring.

If it's in her saddle region, then it might be a rooster.
