We got ours for meat and eggs. I had NO idea how much I would enjoy them! We were lucky to already have a coop on our property and by the end of this year the girls will have paid for themselves, just through eggs! They are already paying for their food and then some!![]()
Our pullets haven't started laying yet, but it is the most interesting thing to watch them grow up! Every day I go out and see that someone has a little more red in their comb or wattles or they are hanging around the nesting boxes more or something. My mom asked me if they had started laying yet and I said I don't care if they ever start, I'm just having so much fun with them. She thinks I'm crazy.
I'm sure I will be running around in circles doing a happy dance the first time someone lays an egg, and I really DO want them to start, but the whole process of them growing up has been so great to watch.
