This seems to be unstoppable. Now I have an incubator and set 36 eggs yesterday. And it all started just because I wanted some fresh eggs.

P.S. I have bought all my birds and eggs locally from BYC members. This is a great forum.

Hm, I've been living here 2 years, and when I moved in there was a sort of a chicken .... wandering around ... the land owner got a bag of scratch .... now we have 2 dozen, getting a half dozen eggs a day (which is plenty, and I think only half of our flock are producers, the nonproducers being too young, too old, or roosters). We also have 2-1/2 coops. We have one up front, one back here I just finished, and this cage, that may be good to keep handy for raising chicks, infirmary/sick bay, etc.

A friend was raising meat birds...He convinced me to buy 5. Then a few more.... Then a fella not too far away was culling his flock... now I've got 54 old layers and 100+ youngsters in the grow-out pen. How did I get here in only 3 years? This chicken math thing is scary!

2years ago my neighbor brought over this tiny 2 day old chick and asked the dh if i might want it.of course he said yes.now im from baltimore md and didnt know squat about chickens.the poor thing cried alnight so i slept on the couch with her in my sweater.no coop,knowledge feed,ect.now 2 years later i have 60 out back and 1 house rooster.taking that 1 little baby chick was the best thing i ever did..
