Chicken Math

My down fall is the ordering on line. Recently I ordered some on line because of a free shipping special, 16 EE from meyers to share with friends because they all wanted EE this year. I have a friend coming today to get 12-15 EE, but I also ordered for me, an Australorp, Austra white, Buckeye, one Blue splash maran male, and a spitzenhauben male, and one meal maker. Then over the holiday weekend when nobody was at the order desk, it was, buy them or lose them chicks Female Spitzenhauben and SS female, so I ordered them plus a MM, and I wanted frypans to get the order up to 15, which was the minimum for free shipping. But fry pans were not available to mail for free so I bought 16 brown egg males for slightly more than frypans but the price was lower if I bought 16. whew!

Oooh how do I find out about free shipping, etc. I heard some hatcheries do deals towards end of spring, summer. I am a very unlucky person lol.

My hubby finally gave in after 10 years and agreed to only 3 chickens. The minimum order was 5 to ship to our zip code. One ended up being a cockerel so he was given away as we didn’t have enough females for him. Hubby agreed to replace him with 1 pullet but you can’t add 1 so I picked up 3 pullets. One of those ended up being a nasty cockerel so he was given away and we added 2 more pullets. That was several years ago. Fast forward to today...36 birds including 2 ducks and 1 turkey. Most of the birds were chosen by my hubby who still insists he only wanted 3 chickens!!!

Lol yeah I think mine is starting to just given in to the fact that he doesn't have much say. My run has already doubled and coop addition is in the works.

When we went to buy ours a year ago there was a husband and wife looking at the baby chicks and we overheard this conversation:

"Aww they're so cute when their little! Hunny, can we get chickens again?"

"Never again."

My daughter have more than me with mixed ages, she gets away with the (no one will notice) better than I can.
I have three eggs that will hatch on Wednesday and I’m setting 18 in the incubator today. I’m starting to realize I have a problem. That’s step one but it seems I don’t get pass step one. :barnie:rant

Chickenholics anonymous. Its a 12 step program. The first step is admitting you have a problem. The second step is building a bigger coop. The third step is buying more chickens...wait. I already screwed up. Back to step one

Oh I think I have this! First started of with 6 chickens then + 3 ducks - predators= 1. Then + 3 ducklings = 4.
Then I went online and bought 36 chicken eggs. And they will be hatching next week.
Thank god my husbands not popped his top yet.
