Explain your personal chicken math.
I was supposed to only get 4, that quickly turned to 5. Then hubby agreed to 2 for his son, that turned to 3 before we even left the store. I always wanted Silkies, you guessed it now have 5! I got brave and mail ordered 3, I get a free chick so that makes 4 new babies soon!!! Wow that got way out of hand.

Yes, I had never even heard of chicken math before. I was only going to get two, but I ended up getting eight!

I googled "Chicken hatchery near me" and found my breeder 20 minutes away. "Chicks for sale" might not reveal very local breeders. Couldn't hurt to try.

Me too!! Hated math, my sister hated seeing me come into bank. Never balanced checkbook, ran 4 checking accounts so I could bounce from one to another. 45 years if it works don’t fix it! Now to chickens: One trip to TS I bought 6 chicks had them a few days. Then there were 7. ?? I can’t count for squat.

I was supposed to go in and pick up 1 barred rock, and 3 blue rocks (2 for daughter and 1 for us) so back to the chicks I go. Oooh there are light and dark blue rocks, picked out 2 light and 2 dark, can't forget the baby barred rock! Ok register time, me "oh crap" hubby "what's wrong" me "I accidentally picked 2 BR for us we were only supposed to get one" hubby "just leave it in the box". I honestly did not mean to get us 2 I was excited about color variation!

I don't even remember why we walked into TSC but it was chick days, and my boyfriend knew I wanted chickes... a little protesting on his part led to "well, let's go to Rural King they have a better selection" which led to 12 chicks...

Lost 3 the first week, came back with 4 replacement chicks, which is a good thing, because we got a cockerel...

So only being mentally prepared for chicks led to 13 chickies. Chicken math.

Haha him exactly. I'm all "here chick chick chick" at the tanks he is all the way across the store!

Would make it much easier to get some cute breeds if my husband stayed home. He just likes chicks doesn’t matter what they are. “Oh look let’s get some”. No I’ve ordered 6 females. Because out of raising up 13 chicks I only got to keep 7. No roosters!!!!!!!
