Yeah, that broody thing is a part of the chicken math equation I didn't expect. Here I was, settled in with my six girls, which were only originally going to be four, but oh well. It is all the fault of my Leghorn, who was sold to me as an "Ameraucana", and when it became obvious she was not an Ameraucana, BF bought me an EE, also called "Ameraucana", but it was a chick and just too lonely, so got a Olive Egger to be her friend. Now the dang Leghorn that has already caused me to get two extra chicks is BROODY, for the second time in two months!! It took two weeks to break her last month, so this time I'm giving in and getting some REAL Ameraucana eggs for her to sit on - and oh yeah, a few Blue Plymouth Rock eggs, too. 'Cause I love those Rocks.
