Chicken math

They will get to be about 21/2 times that size. Super cool you got one laying now.

I think 32 is a small number considering my chickens are self supporting with the eggs I sell.
I use a lot of eggs and sell a lot of eggs so having a lot of chickens makes sense to me.

Makes sense to me too

Sold 6 18 packs at a discounted rate today. Pullet size eggs lol. Tomorrow they get watermelon and perhaps a cabbage.

I need to rework the roosts as well. The Brahma have big bottoms lol. Needing more space for the fluffy butts.

Performed my first subtractions today, two extra cockerels that were not a good fit for my flock. That was a new experience for me, I had no idea feathers were so gross. Sadly my older boy was rather attached to one of them and has declared he's a vegetarian until they aren't in the freezer anymore lol.

Looks good too!

I've been doing my chicken math according to instructions and I am doing great! I use a lot of eggs. I only have 20 adult hens.
I don't have to count anything that is male or young. So I triple the amount of eggs I need per week to get the number of chickens I need AFTER I subtract the males and young. and... I NEED more chickens!

Thanks, I know at least 2 more will have to go to freezer camp eventually, they are only 7 weeks old now so they still have time lol. And I don't know about my 3 week old chicks yet, time will tell. So I'm at 21 right now, but none of my pullets are laying yet, and I have 3 Roos my wife begged me to keep so I need at least a dozen more pullets!

The reality of keeping chickens is that there are more cockerels than there are homes that need/want to keep them - and it sounds like you gave these boys a wonderful life that ended in a clean, efficient manner. Well done and best of luck on the next round. Sounds like you have ended up with quite a few cockerels, did you source straight run chicks and/or hatch your own or?
