Chicken math

There is an ad selling female cayuga ducks in my town. I am so very tempted to answer the ad.

I already have 32 chickens. The yard is not so large anymore with the garden, the chicken coop and run, the dog kennel area, the shed etc...

MUST RESIST!

Just put the ducks with the chickens and they can use the same coop and garden. We have three female ducks with our 30+ chicks without problems thus far!

I would love to be able to do that. I think I am a bit over the coop capacity as it is.
I did answer an add giving away mandarin ducks though. Have not heard back yet. Not sure I would really want something so twitchy lol. Beautiful but twitchy.
I have Brahmas in the coop too so not so sure how ducks would go over.

Maybe next year when I downsize the chicken flock some I can use the smaller part of the coop for a few ducks. It is sectioned off with the smaller part being 5x8 with a 6x20 portion of the run.

blkjak,

Congrats on the hatchlings.
I hope all of them hatch out for you.

Thanks. I have a real problem with silkies. I want to keep them all cuz they are adorable. I did sell and trade some of my adults this year. So in May I had 2 roos and 11 hens. Kept 1 roo and 5 hens, hatched 5 in March, 1 in May, bought 6 in June, hatched 5 in July and now these ones so did have 13 now I am up to 23 +++. OMG!

I understand the compulsion. I am having a really hard time resisting the duckies. I had Cayuga before and they are a pretty bird with a nice disposition.

Hubby told me to do whatever I want........ is that a green light I just got??????

Makes me wonder what he is planning to get.
